Meetup.com is a site that lets people organize meet ups for anything they want.  Personally, I am a member of several meetups, some involve drinking, some involve tech, and some are hobby specific.  It is a great way to meet new people that share your interests.  The service provides a way for you to find other people who like the same hobbies/activities that you do.  For example, I have plenty of friends to hang out with, but not a single one of them are interested in scuba diving.  Scuba diving is safest when you go with a friend.

What is lacking is a Chicago Beer Brewer's group!  Lets go homebrewers, ante up the forty bucks or whatever and start a beer brewers meetup!  Maybe the people at Brew & Grow can organize it, or the Beverly Brew Store.  Angie's would love to help in any way possible!  Who knows, maybe we'll start one!
